Fish Pond Update

Jun 11, 2017

Well after about two months of this happening and then that happening delaying the process we finally got all of the fish we wanted to stock our pond. We have largemouth bass, hybrid bass, catfish, bluegill, hybrid bluegill, sunfish and a few carp. We installed the aerator shortly after we got the fish and everything seems to be going well. I have wanted to stock this pond with fish for years but never had the time to do the necessary work to get it ready. I remember growing up with my grandpa catching fish right off the dock at their place on the lake and then having a big fish fry. I can't wait for my kids to create memories fishing from our bridge and maybe one day they can bring their kids and grand kids down to fish from our bridge. Good stuff.

New Website Features

May 29, 2017

Hello Everyone!

Just wanted to list out the new features that our redesigned website now features.

  1. At Willow Creek we realized the world is changing. We realized that most people view websites on their mobile devices more so now than actual computers so we are happy to announce our site is completely responsive. Meaning that no matter what device you are viewing it on you will still be viewing a world class website and still have the complete functionality of a desktop site.
  2. We have integrated a new Map feature on the bottom of the home page. We realized that where we are located in accordance with level B roads (mud roads if it rains) can offer some confusion to many when they use GPS or other online mapping services. Because of this we created a zoomable map showing the easiest way to get to us following the best maintained roads. If you follow the directions we provide it's a piece of cake. All you need to do is hold your mouse over it and it will auto zoom. Regardless of whatever direction you are coming from we ask that you please find your way to exit 29 and follow the map from there. You will be glad you did. If you encounter a mud road during a wet period you will likely be retrieving your vehicle in a couple days after it dries out and NO, there aren't any farmers around that are will to risk losing their tractor to pull you out. Sorry, please follow our directions.
  3. We added our Facebook feed to the Home Page. This will allow visitors to have a constant view of what is going on at Willow Creek.
  4. We added a Blog/Announcements area to the Home Page. This is a place where we will post info that is either too long for Facebook or doesn't need to be broadcast on Facebook. We are a family run business who believes in and lives a certain way of life and from time to time we will post about the life we live. The wedding business is only a small part of what we are all about. Sometimes we're interesting, other times probably not but what the heck, we invite you into our lives in little snipits here or there.
  5. We added 3 videos on the Home Page. One about The Chapel, one about the Barn and one about Willow Creek in General. They all feature photos from Willow Creek. We think you are going to love them.
  6. We put in a beautiful timeline on the Our Story page.
  7. Reorganized the Rates Page to allow for easier viewing
  8. Reorganized the FAQ page for easier viewing.
  9. Added a contact form so you no longer need to load up your email program, you can message us from right there.
  10. Integrated a new electronic booking form that after touring, you can start the booking process electronically, saving time and paper!
  11. We added an up to date feature letting people know overall where we stand as far as total weddings booked for the current season to give an overall idea of availability. Beyond that we added a calendar for those interested in checking out specific or overall dates available. We also did this for upcoming events such as Open House's, etc. Please note that because the calendar may say a date is available that does not mean that it is not currently in the process of being booked. Please contact us for specific date availability.

Giving thanks on my anniversary.

Jun 26, 2017

Today Maritza and I celebrate our anniversary. As I sat outside grilling our dinner this evening I couldn't help but to reflect on the past ten years of my life. I went from a seed blowing in the wind to a tree that has established roots in very fertile ground. I give thanks every single day of my life for what I have. I sit out here watching my kids play. Two of them are chasing one another while two others are playing in the driveway and the last one is in my wife's arm as she sits staring out over what I see as well and she does it with a smile. Thank you God, bleep blarp or whatever you want to call it, he, or she. I call him my creator and I give thanks to him all the time. I give thanks to my ancestors who set shovel to this land long ago. I give thanks to those that still do. I give thanks to my mom and dad for everything they have done for me in my life. I give thanks to my in laws for all they have ever done for us. Last but not least I give thanks to those that find it within them to celebrate their special day on our property. We could never live the life we do without you. You are all a very special part of this puzzle. Thank you.

On this day of our anniversary I wish nothing but this for each and every one of you that read this. My life is far from perfect. It stinks big time sometimes. Things hurt worse the older you get and it seems old dogs have a very hard time learning new tricks but I would never change any of it. I think I was born with a special gene that wouldn't ever allow me to give up on something. I am far from perfect. I fail at a million things but I have something inside me that won't allow me to stop. I trudge through the stink and the nasty and I've found myself sitting in the middle of the most amazing life you could ever imagine. We're simple, we don't need much but everywhere I look I see piles of gold but not the kind that shines. For every knuckle I bust, for every bump, for every bruise I give thanks because it all reminds me that nothing comes easy.

I love my wife and my children more than any words could ever do justice therefore I will spare any feeble attempt to do so. Just know that they mean the world to me. Every kick, scream, tantrum, dirty diaper, tear, scrape, bump, bruise and broken heart. They are my world and I think sometimes they think the same about me and that makes me the happiest man on the face of the earth. I love you my dear wife on this day of our anniversary. Thank you for everything you have given to me and continue to give to me, I'm blessed beyond words. For all of you reading this know that I wish this for every single person that gets married at our place. One day at a time, everything comes from a seed and don't expect a mighty oak in the first year. It takes time. I hope and pray all the time this is just the beginning and I've only just begun putting rings on my trunk. I got a whole lotta work to do yet.
